Construction is a resource intensive industry, and we rely on the environment to provide the materials and energy that we need. On both an industry and company level, we have an obligation to work more sustainably and to reduce our impact on the environment.
At Crown, we have made small changes where we can, such as take-back schemes with our material providers (for recycling and reuse of materials and packaging), using rubber matting in place of plywood protection boards and using reusable skips in place of disposable 1-tonne lifting bags. Additionally, we are working with the Irish Green Building Council and are accredited to ISO 14001 Environmental Management.
We are always looking to work more sustainably, and have recently established an internal Sustainability Committee, as well as begun the process of a carbon footprint calculation. We all have a way to go, but keep an eye out for more on our sustainability journey.
