Recycling Materials for Community Benefit

In Ireland, the construction of the built environment is responsible for 37% of national greenhouse gas emissions (Irish Green Building Council). It is the responsibility of the entire construction industry to take steps to reduce this impact.

At Crown, we are engaging in a larger decarbonization project this year, in pursuit of our longer term climate targets but, in the interim, recognize that it is imperative that we look to reduce our impact on the environment, in any manner that we can.

Our team on a life sciences project in Ireland, recently took the initiative to create a seating area, using recycled materials, for all of their site colleagues to enjoy. The bench is made out of recycled pallets, sanded and fixed using the recycled nails from other pallets, before finally being torched for an enhanced appearance, and the planters were made using off-cuts of Kingspan composite panels and off-cuts of coated pressings.

Well done to the team and we hope everyone on site enjoys!
